Robert Mark Kamen, the author of such films as Taps, The Karate Kid series, A Walk In The Clouds, The Fifth Element, The Professional and Taken, planted his vineyards 30 years ago with the proceeds from his first screenplay. Located 1450 feet above the valley floor on the Sonoma side of Mount Veeder, a mere 400 yards from the Napa County Line, Kamen Estate Wines produces hand-crafted Cabernet and Syrah wines from vineyards that are organically and biodynamically farmed in fractured volcanic rock soils. Viticulturist Phil Coturri, a pioneer in organic and biodynamic farming in Napa and Sonoma Valley, combines forces with renowned winemaker Mark Herold whose mission is to produce intense, highly extracted, terroir-driven wines. The philosophy is simple: ripe fruit, low yields and high quality.
